Trump to force point of obligation shift via Executive Order…or not

February 28, 2017 |

In Washington, a representative of the Trump Administration told the head of the Renewable Fuels Association that a non-negotiable executive order shifting the point of obligation under the Renewable Fuels Standard was in the works, so the RFA responded that it would go along with the “deal” if E15 would be allowed for sale nationwide, year-round. Opening up the E15 market has been a top ask for the industry. In response to the news, 2017 RIN prices fell more than 30% while corn futures rose more than 4%. The order will also keep Argentine biodiesel imports from accessing tax credits. However, a White House spokesperson denied the claim saying that no EO was in the works.
