Green Kinetics Gateway fundraising in order to secure permits for W2E project

March 6, 2017 |

In Maryland, Green Kinetics Gateway is in negotiations with investors in an effort to raise up to $7 million for phase 1 and up to $50 million for phase 2 of its planned waste-to-energy project that is at least two years behind schedule. The trouble came when the state’s environmental department decided that it needed to approve permits for both phases of the project that would first use MSW to produce fuel pellets and would later use gasification to produce drop-in fuel, rather than just the first phase that had been expected. In order to seek all of the permits, the project developers required outside investment, but Washington County officials remain confident the project will eventually happen.
