Malaysian university teams up for UCO collection and biodiesel campaign

March 13, 2017 |

In Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia has teamed with a local bank’s foundation on a campaign to educate the public about the value of collecting used cooking oil for transformation into and later use of biodiesel. Three community drop-off centers for UCO will be developed under the project, paying people 22 cents per liter. Biodiesel produced from the UCO will be used on campus but the university is encouraging industry to contact them about partnerships to introduce the biodiesel into their own fleets.
