Brazilian February ethanol imports jump to highest since December 2011

March 14, 2017 |

In Brazil, the country imported 257.4 million liters of ethanol in February, nearly 50% than in January and the most since December 2011. About 82% of the import were to the North-Northeast region of the country with nearly all of the supplies coming from the US. With cane mills focusing more on sugar last season to take advantage of a deficit sugar market globally, ethanol production was reduced sufficiently to turn towards imports to make up for the gap in supplies required for blending.
