New life on the cards for Illinois biodiesel project

In Illinois, a new proposal for a biodiesel plant in Newton would be double the size of the original project planned but never brought to full production capacity. The 100 million gallon per year facility would require an additional investment of more than $28 million, a deal the city council is currently negotiating with the new developer. The city has been assured that the new developer has the financial backing required to reach completion of the project, the main weakness of the last project promoter.
