In Switzerland, a team from Indonesia’s trade ministry is filing an appeal with the World Trade Organization, arguing that the European Union’s methodology for calculating the normal price of biodiesel in Indonesia is flawed and therefore anti-dumping duties against its exports are unnecessary. It’s this challenge the country says sets its complaint against the EU apart from the biodiesel trade spat between the EU and Argentina, though it says it has learned from Argentina’s experience in fighting the EU at the WTO.
Regarding the newer complaint by the US biodiesel industry against Indonesian imports that valued nearly $1 billion last year, the trade ministry will officially respond in early April.
