Indian Railroads slow to implement B5 due to fuel price fluctuations

In India, despite the country’s railway company’s goal to blend 5% biodiesel in its fuel supply, fluctuating prices have kept the fuel from being made available at 252 of the 300 Railway Consumer Depots. As many as 80 depots are targeted for introducing the blend this year but there are calls to speed up the implementation despite biodiesel not necessarily being cheaper in response to demand to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel imports.
