In South Africa, the country’s department of science and technology has released its bio-energy atlas in an attempt to support bioenergy development across the country thanks to research carried out by the South African Earth Observation Network. The data source and decision support tool is meant to help get the country “off the starting line” in terms of bioenergy, helping to achieve the goals set out in the bioeconomy strategy and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
