Malaysia concerned about European Parliament’s anti-palm oil report

In Malaysia, not surprisingly the country is concerned about the potential impacts from the European Parliament’s non-binding but nearly unanimous vote this week seeking to end imports of non-sustainable palm oil for biofuels by the end of the decade, saying that the policy unfairly targets palm oil against other vegetable oils. The EU currently accounts for about 2/5 of the country’s palm oil exports at more than 2 million metric tons last year, between top export market India and third-place China.
