Florida firefighters concerned about safety hazards from increased ethanol rail traffic

In Florida, the Treasure Coast Fire Chiefs’ Association has sent a letter to the governor requesting a laundry list of infrastructure investments, training and equipment upgrades in order to be prepared for future rail accidents resulting from increased traffic of flammables such as ethanol and LNG as well as increased passenger traffic. The association says that the county and state fire departments are ill prepared to tackle these kinds of threats to the communities they serve and that without proper support, they will be at risk.
