Canadian canola industry excited about export opportunities for US biodiesel

In Canada, the canola industry believes that an extra 200 million to 400 million pounds of canola oil demand could result from the US renewing the biodiesel blenders credit but only applying it to domestic biodiesel production. The US industry could import oil from their Canadian neighbors and still qualify for the credit, so the Canadian industry thinks the best price option would be to look north for supplies. That boost in demand would account for up to 4.6% of annual canola production.
