Argentine biofuel production soars during Q1 thanks to bumper grain crop

May 24, 2017 |

In Argentina, biofuel production during Q1 jumped thanks to a larger grain harvest, with ethanol production up 25.6% on the year while biodiesel rose more than 31%. As a result, revenues rose more than 26% to $147 million despite exports falling by 2.5%. During the period, exports were hit by anti-dumping policies in the US and Europe but exports to Europe should return in August.  The US recently determined that biodiesel imports from Argentina and Indonesia were damaging to the domestic industry.
