“Scaling Up the Low Carbon Bioeconomy” ministerial event set for Beijing

In China, Mission Innovation and Biofuture Platform will host a side event “Scaling Up the Low Carbon Bioeconomy”. June 8, at the China National Convention Center, Beijing, as part of the CEM8 and Mission Innovation 2 Ministerial in Beijing. The event will highlight the recent contributions of Mission Innovation Sustainable Biofuels Innovation Challenge (SBIC) and the Biofuture Platform to help increase international collaboration in this sector and a call for action for the next steps.

Through the engagement of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the below50 coalition, the side event will also underscore the critical role of the private sector for the intensification of investments in the sustainable low carbon bioeconomy. The program will include presentations on recent findings by international agencies (IEA, IRENA, FAO, IEA Bioenergy) regarding both the need to scale up bioenergy to meet climate targets and recent findings regarding sustainable avenues to do so, as well as private sector overview of recent industrial developments and breakthroughs.
