Fires causing problems in abandoned Bionet Europa biodiesel facility

July 19, 2017 |

In Spain, two fires in as many weeks have erupted at the former Bionet Europa biodiesel factory near Reus after solidified old fuel left behind on site caught fire. This week’s fires took place in some old storage tanks that firefighters say are no longer at risk of catching fire again with the one in early July also taking place in storage tanks. A few months ago another small fire started in the same area. Local authorities have warned the facility’s owners that they are responsible for ensuring there is no possibility of danger from the abandoned facility.
