European Commission may announce biodiesel anti-dumping tariff reductions Thursday

July 25, 2017 |

In Belgium, the European Commission could announce a reduction in anti-dumping duties on Argentine and Indonesia biodiesel on Thursday, a move which should make biodiesel more competitive than ethanol thanks to an increase in imports in the near future. The European Biodiesel Board is begging the European Commission to wait until at least September to see the results of the WTO panel with Indonesia. Reduced demand for ethanol will in turn weigh on ethanol prices, so if demand moved towards more biodiesel and far less ethanol then countries with biofuel rather than biodiesel and ethanol mandates would reduce consumption overall.
