IGPC celebrates company’s expansion doubling ethanol production by 2018

July 25, 2017 |

In Canada, IGPC Ethanol Inc. hosted on Monday the Hon. Glenn Thibeault, Ontario’s minister of energy for a celebration recognizing the company’s C$120-million investment to double ethanol production capacity at its facility in Aylmer, Ont. As a result of the expansion, by 2018 IGPC will produce at least 400 million liters of ethanol per year, making it one of the largest producers of renewable fuel in Canada.

Through the blending of the 400 million liters of ethanol that will now be produced at the new IGPC plant into Ontario gasoline, Ontario’s GHG emissions will be reduced by an average of 475,000 tons per year, which is equivalent to the removal of 100,000 cars from Ontario’s roads each year.

Once operational in November 2018, the expanded IGPC plant is expected to create over C$248 million in economic activity annually in the province of Ontario, adding C$73 million in GDP, and generating C$31 million in wages directly and indirectly for about 600 Ontario workers. This economic activity will generate an estimated C$27 million over the next 25 years in tax revenues to Ontario municipal governments, C$53 million in tax revenues to the Ontario provincial government, and C$85 million in tax revenues to the federal government.
