Chinese ethanol exports jump in July to 19,814 cu m

August 30, 2017 |

In China, ethanol exports soared once again in July to 19,814 cu m, up 8% on the month, with about 65% of the total—12,945 cu m—headed to Saudi Arabia. North Korea and the Philippines absorbed much of the rest of the export volumes. Total exports for the year through July was 97,137 cu m but the export trend is expected to ease in August, however, thanks to rising domestic prices. Most of the 288 cu m imported during the month came from Myanmar, volumes which are expected to remain subdued despite higher domestic prices as an import arbitrage window hasn’t yet opened.
