In Texas, Hurricane Harvey damage and impact has brought U.S. biodiesel prices near a five-month high, according to Platts. On Friday, prices in Chicago for biodiesel delivery were at $3.3950 per gallon and prices in Houston were at $3.2650 per gallon. Refineries in Texas and Louisiana that were impacted by Hurricane Harvey include the largest biodiesel refinery in the country, Motiva’s Port Arthur, Texas refinery and RBF’s Port Neches, Texas plant which was still closed on Friday. Many uncertainties and questions remain about when they will open, what the damage is to stored biodiesel, and what the impact will be on long-term production.
