Midwest corn harvest pushes ethanol margins to nine-month highs

In Illinois, with the onslaught of the corn harvest, prices are falling and in turn crush margins are improving, reaching a nine-month high. Poor margins earlier in the year had negative impacts on Q2 reporting in July for several independent producers such as The Andersons, Green Plains, and Pacific Ethanol. With RIN prices rebounding to levels seen before Carl Icahn was appointed a special advisor to President Trump, Q3 returns are expected to look a lot rosier than Q2.
