E4Tech report shows opportunity for advanced biofuels in UK but policy framework needed

In the UK, the Department for Transport published a new report commissioned from E4Tech showing that advanced biofuels can play a key role in decarbonizing transportation by 2030. Gasification combined with Fischer Tropsch are seen as the rising start of technology to achieve those goals followed by fast pyrolysis and upgrading but that project finance and stable policy to create long-term markets are needed in order for the estimates to become reality. The report says greater clarity beyond 2030 as well as a policy framework that specifically provides space in the market for drop-in advanced biofuels are required.
