Cellulosic Sugar Producers Co-op host farmer field days to recruit acres

November 16, 2017 |

In Canada, the Cellulosic Sugar Producers Co-op is hosting two farmer field days this week in an effort to attract the remainder of the 55,000 acres of corn stover and wheat straw needed to supply the Comet facility in Sarnia. The plant is meant to produce dextrose sugars that can later be used for cellulosic ethanol or chemicals production. The field days will show how the coop will go onto farms, cut and bale the feedstock without farmers having to lift a finger.
