EU opens subsidy investigation against Argentine biodiesel imports

In Belgium, Reuters reports that as anticipated last week, the European Commission has gone ahead and launched an investigation into alleged subsidies provided by the Argentine government to boost biodiesel exports at prices that impede the competitiveness of the European biodiesel industry. Although anti-dumping tariffs against Argentine biodiesel imports were lowered in September, depending on the results of the investigation another set of tariffs could be added to compensate for any additional wrongdoing found by the European Commission.
