European biodiesel market main destination for Australian canola

February 8, 2018 |

In Australia, data from the national statistics bureau shows that 96% of canola exports in November and December—a total of 450,371 metric tons—were headed to Europe as feedstock for biodiesel. Much of the country’s 1 million ton surplus is expected to head for Europe along with some volumes exported to China. Lower garbanzo prices mean that growers are expected to favor more canola production this year, leading to another likely surplus in the next season.
