B10 could boost Malaysian palm oil demand to 1 million tons

March 19, 2018 |

In Malaysia, boosting the biodiesel blending mandate to 10% could increase palm oil demand by another 300,000 metric tons, bringing domestic consumption above 1 million tons. With low palm oil prices and crude oil around $60 per barrel, the country’s biodiesel association believes now is the right time to increase the blend. The final decision regarding the increased mandate is expected after the country’s general elections in late August. Campaigning has already kicked into high gear but there are concerns about voter apathy.
