March 20, 2018 |

In Thailand, natural gas company Sakol Energy has jumped into renewables following its IPO in November. Recently it received the last of the required licenses for its 9.9MW biomass power projects in Prae Province, a project that it now owns 80% of. It will use pellets as feedstock and sell power to the local grid with a 20-year feed in tariff three times higher than the standard hybrid rate. The company also bought 75% of a compressed bio-methane project that will use waste from tapioca plants as feedstock and will be the first of five more projects in the pipeline using waste from more than 1,000 plants. The third project includes filling stations for natural gas vehicles.
