In Brazil, Reuters reports that consultancy JOB Economia says ethanol production will be 28 billion liters during the 2018/19 season compared to 26.09 billion liters last season while total sugar production will fall to just 30 million metric tons compared to 36.1 million tons during 2017/18. Brazilian sugar mills are choosing to focus on ethanol production this season as global sugar prices remain at 2.5-year lows and could potentially go lower due to a near-record production surplus.
