In Canada, Genifuel will demonstrate wastewater to biofuel hydrothermal processing technology developed by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory at the BlueTech Forum in Vancouver next month in an attempt to draw attention to wastewater’s role in the bioeconomy. Following tests with more than 100 waste feedstocks and algae, the company believes the technology is getting closer to market. Next month’s on-site demonstration has been supported by funding from the Water Research Foundation where in an hour biomass can be converted to fuel similar to fossil fuels, rather than in millions of years.
