Total will use 25% UCO at La Mede biorefinery following farmer pressure

May 17, 2018 |

In France, Reuters reports that Total will limit its use of palm oil at its new La Mede biofuel refinery to 75% of production capacity with the remainder sourced from used cooking oil as a condition of its operating permit following pressure by French oilseed farmers concerned that all of the feedstock processed at the facility will be imported. The rapeseed farmers say the decision to allow imported palm oil and recycled oil that is also predominantly palm oil is a slap in the face to their industry.
