Uttar Pradesh pushes for approval to use cane juice for ethanol feedstock

In India, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh has asked the central government to allow the use of sugarcane juice rather than molasses for ethanol feedstock as soon as possible to help reduce the repeat a giant sugar glut in the state next season. He says the deregulating the use of sugarcane for ethanol would also help to reduce fossil fuel imports into the country in line with national policy, as using molasses as the only ethanol feedstock has seriously limited production and therefore availability for blending.
