April biodiesel production falls to 140 million gallons

In Washington, despite excitement around a higher blending mandate for biodiesel in 2019 that should see production bounce back, Reuters reports that April production fell to 140 million gallons from 147 million gallons the month prior. Data from the Energy Information Administration shows soybean oil accounted for 48% of the total feedstock, making it the feedstock of choice. About 520 million pounds of oil were used in April while 624 million pounds was used in March.
