SAS teams with Preem to develop aviation biofuel

July 4, 2018 |

In Sweden, SAS and Preem have signed a letter of intent to produce renewable aviation fuel. SAS has the ambition to replace today’s fuel volume for domestic aviation with biofuel by 2030.

The letter of intent means that SAS and Preem will collaborate to jointly ensure the production of biojet (renewable aviation fuel or so-called biofuel) in connection with Preem’s planned capacity expansion of the Gothenburg refinery. Preliminary estimated start-up is in 2022 and the total capacity of biofuels is estimated to exceed one million cubic meters, of which a subset may be biojet to the airplane.
