Carbio says Argetine biodiesel reduces GHG emissions 70%

July 16, 2018 |

In Argentina, Carbio and INTA have calculated greenhouse gas reductions associated with the country’s soy-based biodiesel to be 70% at 26 g CO2/MJ

Compared to 83.8 g CO2/MJ for fossil diesel, more than sufficient to achieve the European Union’s 60% reduction threshold. The study showed that positive results were largely a result of advanced agricultural production techniques used to grow soy including precision agriculture, GMO and direct seeding, the latter of which reduces fossil fuel use by up to 40%.
