India slams door on biofuel imports as it looks to develop domestic industries

In India, in an effort to shore up its market for the new biofuel policy recently introduced, the government has banned the import of fuels blended with biofuels such as the 70/30 diesel/biodiesel blend that was coming into the country regularly as well as all other biofuels unless it will be used for purposes other than for fuel. The US ethanol industry, for example, had been pushing hard to get India to import ethanol while it ramped up its own industry’s production capacity to meet established blending mandates.
