India developing policy to promote aviation biofuel after first commercial flight

August 27, 2018 |

In India, Bloomberg reports that following the country’s first aviation biofuel-powered flight on Monday, the transportation minister announced a policy promoting the use of biofuels in commercial airplanes is under development. Rising fuel costs are hitting domestic airlines hard and some believe that aviation biofuel could be 30% cheaper than imported aviation fuels, but much will depend on the Goods and Services Tax that is placed on the biofuel. Determining the GST level will be part of the new policy under development.
