Future of Brazilian ethanol production unclear

September 5, 2018 |

In Brazil, Reuters reports there’s a major difference between two key analysts’ expectations for ethanol production next year, leaving a lot of questions as to what may happen. Bioagência believes mills will continue to focus on ethanol next season, estimating 30 billion liters of ethanol compared to 28.8 billion liters this year, with sugar production dropping to 25.4 million metric tons from 27.4 million in this season. Agroconsult, on the other hand, things the focus on ethanol production was a one-off and will instead go back to sugar production with just 27.7 billion liters of ethanol.
