Government to waive permit requirements for alternative fuel vehicles and EVs

September 6, 2018 |

In India, the Press Trust of India reports that the government will exempt alternative fuel vehicles as well as electric vehicles from permit requirements to help encourage demand, including by urging companies like Uber and Ola to stock up on them and introduce them into their fleets. Buses, trucks, taxis, autorickshaws and all other vehicles running on ethanol, biodiesel, CNG, and methanol are included in the exemption. The government said it won’t be subsidizing EVs beyond the GST reduction.
