Platts sees record ethanol production in H2 August despite mills looking at more sugar

September 11, 2018 |

In Brazil, Platts expects hydrous ethanol production for the last half of August to have reached a record high for the period of 1.62 billion liters, nearly 60% higher than H2 August 2017 and more than 21% higher than the first half of the month. That would bring total hydrous ethanol production for the season to 13.92 billion liters, more than 61% higher on the year. Even with record ethanol production, Platts expects the percentage of sugarcane used towards ethanol production to fall by about 1.5% from the first half of the month.
