In Australia, a successful growing trial of Carinata held in conjunction with Agrisoma BioSciences last year is boosting hopes for a future industry in the country looking for additional oilseed options beyond canola for both biofuels and other biomaterials. The crop’s resistance to diseases prevalent in canola such as white leaf spot and black leg are among the most attractive features. That the oil has been shown to be a good feedstock for aviation biofuel is also a boon for the country that hopes to become a regional bioeconomy hub.
