In Washington, Reuters reports that Exxon Mobil received a hardship waiver for its Montana 60,000 bpd refinery from the Environmental Protection Agency so that the smaller refinery didn’t have to comply with its RIN requirements for 2017 under the Renewable Fuels Standard. Now Exxon is the largest company known to have received a hardship waiver. The waiver was granted before a recent review of the waiver granting process that is meant to provide more transparency to which refineries receive waivers and why.
