Pacific Ethanol lays off workers and shuts down 45 million gallons of production in Nebraska

December 19, 2018 |

In Nebraska, Reuters reports that Pacific Ethanol has laid off nearly half of its workers at the Aurora ethanol plant, shutting down 45 million gallons of production with no immediate plans to restart. The plant’s remaining 110 million gallons of production continues to operate despite low ethanol margins that are forcing facilities to wind down production across the country, such as Green Plains that has gone so far as to sell some of its facilities. About 20% of the Pacific Ethanol’s total production has been mothballed so far.
