In Argentina, Reuters reports that as of January 1 the Ministry of Energy has increased the price of sugarcane-based ethanol to per 59 cents liter while corn-based ethanol was increased to 54 cents per liter. The prices set by the ministry must be paid by fuel companies who buy locally-produced biofuels to blend 12% ethanol. Price shifts are meant to reflect changes in the production cost of the fuel. Sugarcane-based ethanol, for example, had its price would down in November.
