CONAB sees 2018/19 Brazilian ethanol production at record high of 33.58 billion liters

In Brazil, the Brazil-Arab news agency reports that CONAB estimates the 2018/19 crop will end with record ethanol production, jumping more than 23% on the year to 33.58 billion liters, above the previous record of 30.5 billion liters in 2015/16 crop. Overall cane production for the year fell about 1.3% to 625.2 million metric tons with sugar production falling more than 17% as mills favored ethanol production, especially hydrous, in light of low global sugar prices.
