ATAG says planned aviation biofuel production half way to commercial tipping point

May 14, 2019 |

In Switzerland, AirlineRatings.com reports that the Air Transportation Action Group says that aviation biofuel production capacity equaling about 1% of aviation fuel supply should be online by 2025, half way to what is considered the commercial tipping point of 7 billion liters annually. So far, about 180,000 flights have been flown on an aviation biofuel blend. ATAG’s executive director voiced concerns at a recent event that government needs to enact policy that ensures the precious aviation biofuel supplies don’t end up in the road transportation fuel market instead.
