Maharashtra sugar mills trying to negotiate long-term ethanol contracts with OMCs

In India, the Financial Express newspaper reports that sugar mills in Maharashtra are trying to negotiation with oil marketing companies long-term ethanol contracts in an effort to provide stability to its ethanol sector. In line with similar contracts used by mills when selling cogeneration electricity to the national grid via utilities that last 13 years, mills in Maha are looking for 10-15 year contracts with OMCs to ensure that investments to expand ethanol production are bankable and viable in the long term.
