In Tennessee, 90’s teen heartthrob Luke Perry was buried in a mushroom suit after dying of a stroke in March. In a recent Instagram post, Perry’s daughter Sophie Perry revealed that her father had requested the unique, casket-free burial option because he did not wish to damage the environment. The burial was one of Perry’s final wishes.
“Now, mushrooms hold an entirely new meaning for me,” Perry added. “Any explanation I give will not do justice to the genius that is the mushroom burial suit, but it is essentially an eco-friendly burial option via mushrooms.”
Coeio produces the suits for $1,500. Each suit, which is meant to speed up decomposition, includes a hood and face cover.
