Ensus been producing ethanol at low rates since March

June 11, 2019 |

In the UK, local press reports that the Ensus ethanol plant has only been running at a low rate since March and has had several shutdowns due to the lack of demand for ethanol because the government has yet to enforce E10. Currently the policy is only for E5. The company says that the country is at risk of losing its £1 billion ethanol industry if demand isn’t increased significantly and quickly. The UK imports used cooking oil from more than 70 countries, which the company says isn’t sustainable, while its ethanol is produced from domestically-grown wheat whose farmers rely on it to support market prices.
