In Indonesia, the Jakarta Post reports that the national palm oil producers association blames trade barriers for a reduction in palm oil exports, which fell to just over 2 million metric tons in April from nearly 3 million tons in March. Exports did rebound to 2.4 million tons in May, figures were still below expectations. Malaysia has a special trade agreement with India that allows it to dominate over Indonesia while legal challenges with the European Union over palm oil sustainability have gotten in the way of trade as well.
