Brazilian Center-South hydrous ethanol prices break July record high prices

July 29, 2019 |

In Brazil, Platts reports that hydrous ethanol prices have reached a record high for any July in the Center-South region since recordkeeping began in April 2014 at $560 per cubic meter, 6% higher than the week prior. Anhydrous ethanol prices also rose 4.5% to similar levels. July typically sees the highest levels of ethanol production all year, but rising demand in the Northeast saw mills sending their supplies out of the key Center-South region. Ethanol prices are expected to settle back to normal once with the northeastern gap is filled.
