Thailand to continue B20 subsidies for another two months

July 31, 2019 |

In Thailand, the government has decided to extend subsidization of B20 at the pump for another two months in order to provide relief to drivers and try to continue to increase demand for the fuel, which is currently around 5 million liters per day. The government began subsidizing the fuel in an effort to eat through its palm oil surplus last December and was meant to expire on July 31. The Baht has suffered from a 10% depreceiation recently which has made fuel imports more expensive as well.
