Indian mulling increase in ethanol price for B-molasses and sugar juice feedstocks

August 19, 2019 |

In India, Cogencis news agency reports that the government is looking to potentially raise the price of ethanol in an effort to further encourage more ethanol production as it seeks ways to draw down its sugar surplus stocks that could top 10 million metric tons by the end of its crop year on September 30. The increase may only be slight, however, since the national cane price paid to farmers will be held steady next season, and the increase will only apply to ethanol produced from B-heavy molasses and sugar juice.
